And lastly the most recent addition to the clan. These are the Satyr Art Studio Fomorians. I had hoped to mix them in with the others as command groups, but sadly they're too puny even by HQ/Jes Goodwin standards so they're sticking together. I'd treat them as Shearls, but their armour's a bit too fancy for that.
Welcome to the old school miniature wargaming/roleplay hobby blog of Geoff (AKA Fimm McCool) from Oakbound Studio. I hope you enjoy your visit.

Clan Meerie rides again
It's been a looooong time since my Fimir came off the shelf. And they were never really organised into a proper fighting force. I'm taking some steps to rectify that by sorting out some main units for them to operate in. Some of these didn't exist last time I used these guys in a game, some are very recent paint jobs, but there are some older classics here. My Bibby Fianna Fimm (along with a Krakon Meargh and three of Diego's warlord (converted) also now available from Krakon).
These are also quite aged now. Reaper Bones, Chronopia and the 5th/6th (?) edition Rugluds miniatures with resculpted heads. Intended to represent sons of nobles on their way to growing to full size.
Regular Bibby Fimm with the recent Oakbound Myeri. All on 25mm bases. I have actually rebased the older models three times now... hopefully this will be the last iteration!

Still got the chariots etc. to rebase, but that's almost 3000pts as it is from the 3rd Ed Armies list, them Fimir are pretty pricey! I also need to rescue the original Oakbound Myeri models, tidy up the painting and decide how to base them up. Things for the future.

Orcs of the Poked Eye
I realised I never posted unit-by-unit pics of the Orcs of the Poked Eye (it's all red and sore). The force is lead by one of my favourite ever miniatures, the Asgard Half-Troll Chieftain by the illustrious Nick Bibby. His crew are a right ol' mix of Citadel from various eras, Asgard, Alternative Armies and Ral Partha Europe. The dread Boris Banner flies above them, urging them on to even greater crimes.
Goblin unit, again several makes mixed in together here including RPE, Ral Partha, Citadel and Denizen. The army colour scheme is inspired by Angus McBride's take on LotR orcs so really they're all orcs, just of different sizes and breeds.
Prince August and LotR Moria goblins with Wargames Factory orc heads.
Mostly Citadel Grom's Goblin Guard and Giaks.
Black Orcs, mostly the huge Mountain Orcs from SHQ (formerly Fantasy Warlord) along with a few suitably large companions.
First of the Oakbound Hobgoblin (formerly Westfalia) units.
And another.
Savage orc boar boys, mostly RAFM with their excellent warthoggy type boars.
More LotR Moria goblins with Wargames Factory heads on wolves... um, tibetan mastiffs. Suitably steppe.
And some crossbow arrer boys. More Fantasy Warlord orcs (mostly) with mighty crossbows from Magister Militum.

Hooves of the Empire
I decided my infantry-heavy Empire force needed a little mounted support, and as their commanders were already mounted it seemed appropriate to give them some forces to lead.
First up are these Bicorn (I think?) Cuirassiers which make lovely Pistoliers. I was deliberating giving them bigger plumes, but I figure these guys aren't all that showy and the subtler feathers they already had looked in-keeping. Blackened armour and red/yellow striped sashes to tie in with their leader King Charlie.
Next up, Oliver Cromwell in his natural state- riding a unicorn and surrounded by armoured centaurs! I wasn't originally going to do these Ral Partha figures for the Empire force, but after doing the Pistoliers I thought the armour style would tie in quite well with that renaissance/medieval crossover. The romanesque/punky crests match those on my Fae Martial miniatures I am using for hard-hitting halberdiers so I think they fit in nicely, if a little on the small side for shock cavalry. I thought I had somehow missed one of my favourites of my various family coats of arms (Harris, three gold hedgehogs!) from the army so gave it to these guys. Then realised I had already included it, so oh well, it's not in there twice. Never enough golden hedgehogs.

Boars!
Among the lovely ex-White Knight dwarfs that The Assault Group make are some lush Boar Knights. Sadly they're on ponies. No, no, no. I want Boar Knight ON BOARS! Luckily they're obliging folk and sent me some without their steeds. Now to find some piggies for them... Old School Miniatures have that sorted with their Ewal Clam Evil Dvergar which has boar riders, and they sell the boars separately. Two packs- one barded the other not. 8 boars. Just what I needed. They fit together nicely, minimal gap filling required.
These guys should be able to break through a goblin line ok. I've drawn them up as Iron Breakers with lances and war boars, pretty straight forward. Now I need to paint up the banner for them.

Trolls!
These fine fellows I meant to paint over the summer as an end-of-goblins project. That didn't happen, but being off sick the last week has some benefits.
They're Drew Williams Bog Trolls from Troll Soup Miniatures, who I think may be taking a hiatus at the moment. Very tasty and fun they are too!
There are two interlopers in this crowd. A Knightmare Miniatures 'Rogrot Skullcruncher' and a Citadel two-headed troll I saved from a broken junk lot a few years back. Painted in the same tones I think they sit quite well, especially the Knightmare model.

Going back to a classic
One of my favourite projects to work on was the Citadel Combat Cards Goblinoids quest.
I took a bunch of photos, ooohh.... 6? 7? 8? years ago. A long time anyway. I should probably take some better ones now I have my light box etc. Anyhow, my intention was to reproduce the deck with my own paintjobs. I got some way in and then it fell off the radar. As I've been thinking about a new CC quest (details on YouTube tomorrow) I have got back into sorting this one out This doesn't complete the set but it does add a few more.
