The Month of Marsh- Season of mists is upon us!

That means it's time to dig out those Fenbeasts, Fimir, Bog monsters and Albionites for a month in the swamps!

I've already said a bit about what I'm hoping to get painted, but I thought I'd start the month with something different.

Remember how flat my marsh terrain boards are? Time to get some scenery on them, and these are especially for playtesting the first scenario from Oakbound's forthcoming 'Secrets of Shandisholm' sourcebook, "Rustlers in the bushes".

The first White Dwarf I bought as a kid was issue 191 and shortly afterwards there was a Raid! scenario in the magazine with instructions for making an orc hut from a pringles tube. That was the first piece of terrain I ever made, and I think it may still be in a box in my room. Needless to say, these huts are a significant improvement but on the same principle. They took me less than an hour (not including drying time) to do all three and I'm very happy with how they turned out.

Now I know the process works I'll be detailing how I make the next ones more closely. The scenarios in "Secrets" need plenty of huts so I've got more work to do and the sourcebook will probably have a double-page spread on how to make these super-easy but effective Iron Age Roundhouses.

In short, the components are: Thick card or MDF base, 'sharing' size tube of twiglets, cheesy snacks etc. (following on from the pringles theme), cereal box card, cocktail sticks, cheap fur fabric, wood varnish, polyfiller and some flock for detail.

And a view from above showing the tufts of grass and moss growing on the roofs, it's all about the texture baby!

Hopefully there'll be some nice pictures of the game in action later in the week.
