Changes afoot for Fimm McCools... If you're a follower PLEASE NOTE!

It has been a few years now that Fimm McCools- formerly Fimm McCool's Games Orkshop has been running. About a year ago what was purely a hobby became a hobby/business with the creation of Oakbound Games- intended to be a way of making the hobby cash-neutral, doing some interesting things with our creations and working towards uniting small, independent games designers, sculptors, painters, and enthusiasts to create magic worlds of our own which couldn't be managed apart.

What with the commercial side becoming blurred with the hobby I want to be able to continue to post (in hopefully increasing amounts) on this blog with modelling, painting and gaming projects but also need to be able to reference the doings of Oakbound and other independents safely within it. For this reason I have decided that whilst 'Games Orkshop' was a funny play on the name of a former favourite company it is too close to keep whilst promoting other miniatures companies. Therefore

FROM THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER FIMM MCCOOL'S WILL BE RELOCATING TO:

FimmMcCools.Blogspot.co.uk

The site isn't live at present, and hopefully this will just be a URL switch so all followers should be preserved, but any links to the blog will need updating from December 1st.

Thank you for your continued visits and I hope to see you all on the other side after the switch.

The Myeri are coming....

The news reached me yesterday that my moulds are ready. The master casts of Clan Myeri sculpts are done and the figures are ready for production. There are 10 of these in all, 8 Marsh Demons, a Woldlouse and a mystery figure which will be revealed in good time. Eventually these will go on general sale along with a board and roleplay game which is being tested at the moment. The rules will be freely available in the new year for playtesting and a forum will be set up to discuss ideas, development and gameplay. In the meantime, though, the Myeri Marsh Demons are available solely to Oldhammer Forum users so if you want some you'll have to hop over and sign up!

Pictures of the greens in progress can be found here and prices can be found here.

Fianna Fimm greens

My first two Fianna Fimm are now sculpted. With a unit filler they should make up part of a unit of 15 when finished. I've taken moulds from the bodies of these two and hope to cast 4 of each in resin, sculpting the heads and tails afterwards and reposing a bit for variation. The Fianna are based on the 'trial by stone' (Haaakskeeekah!) from the Dark Crystal, hence their Haakskarl blades (great weapons). The unit champion is going to be based more closely on the Garthim Master.

I made the second one bellowing because I really liked my shouting Fimm and wanted this unit to have one too, I only realised afterwards that he has a striking (no pun intended!) resemblance to the Chamberlain in this shot:

"Aiiiiiiieeeeeeaaaaaaaah!"

The Shearl and a visitor from afar

Here are some pictures of the painted Shearl units. With any luck they'll be based next week as well, we're having a grand terrain-making day on tuesday and I'm hoping to bash out an 8x4 fen board in a day, basing my models to match. So here we are, 30 Shearl, currently with one Fimm slaver but there will be another at some point hopefully, stop the cowardly blighters running away!

Based this guy on a cavalry base to fill in a gap at the back of one of the units, these guys rank up much better on these size bases!

Got this chain through the post as well for restraining the slaves... won't be putting this much round them as they won't be able to fight, but this should be enough chain to restrain the whole lot of them, plus a few extras...

Mt favourite Fimm model arrived from New Zealand! He's much smaller than I expected though, which leaves me with a quandry. Do I:

Rank him up with my Mistmor as I intended, even though he's a wee bit smaller than the others?

Use him as a Fimm slaver in a unit of Shearl? He looks pretty nice with these guys, but he does look a bit too similar to them with his chin on his chest, or maybe that's a good thing?

Use him as a champion in a forthcoming unit of Fimm? Maybe even as a Fianna Fimm champion, as he was originally titled 'Fianna Fimm' on the white dwarf pages he appears on. Seeing as my Fianna are going to be armed with big, curved, two-handed swords his axe may need replacing.

Ah, decisions decisions!
